IVF New Jersey: Egg Donation Agency Serving Canada – Vancouver – Toronto
Selecting an egg donor is one of the first steps in the fertility process. Our egg donors go through a stringent screening process to ensure that the genetic quality of the eggs harvested is high and matches the needs of the potential recipients. We send recipients anonymous egg donor profiles of their donor matches to review. Using this information the recipient can approve the match or ask our donor coordinator to search through the donor pool to find another. At IVF New Jersey, we pride ourselves as a full-service egg donation agency serving Toronto, Vancouver, and all of Canada. To schedule a consultation, contact us today.
Finding Donors
We actively advertise to recruit egg donors from the general population as well as from colleges. Those who respond to the advertisements are screened by our qualified and experienced staff and asked to attend a seminar at one of our five offices in New Jersey. This comprehensive seminar addresses questions that donors may have about egg donation or our agency and includes materials that explain the following:
- Medications
- Surgical procedure
- Risks associated with egg donation
- Side effects
- Lifestyle changes and restrictions while a donor
- Time demands expected of the donor
It also provides prospective donors the opportunity to meet with physicians, have their questions answered, and become comfortable with the idea of donating their eggs.
All prospective egg donors are required to complete a psychological inventory to screen for conditions such as a history of mental illness, and explain their desire to become an egg donor. This way, undesirable potential donors are screened out of the process. Prospective donors are also given a complete psychological interview during the matching process to delve deeper in the motivation for egg donation, further explain the expectations upon her, and reaffirm her commitment to donating her eggs. She is given a week after this interview to follow up with the coordinator and give her final decision.
The Matching Process
Using the information gathered at the informational seminar, our experienced egg donor coordinator and director of psychological services narrow the field of prospective donors based on the egg donor profiles which includes information the women provided at the seminar, the psychological inventory, and interviews. With this data, they also match the prospective donors to egg recipients.
Once a potential match has been made, our egg donation coordinator notifies the recipient, reviews the anonymous prospective egg donor’s profile, and then obtains permission to continue the process. If the recipient is pleased with the match, the donor completes another, in-depth psychological interview. If the recipient disapproves of the match, the egg donor coordinator goes back to the prospective donor pool to find another, more suitable match.
Once the second psychological interview is completed, the donor coordinator and director of psychological services make a definitive decision about the prospective donor’s suitability. If the donor is deemed suitable, she is contacted to confirm that she would like to donate her eggs. If the donor confirms that she would like to participate, our donor coordinator sends her the appropriate paperwork. The donor coordinator also notifies the recipient, and requests payment of the required fees.
Donor Medical Screening
Once the appropriate fees are collected from the recipient, the donor is advised to schedule a final medical screening. This comprehensive medical exam includes a full medical history, physical, and disclosure of genetic and infectious diseases with appropriate testing. When the exam is complete, the recipient receives a copy of the results, with the identifying information removed.
