It’s April, and Lisa places a hand on her belly, excited about being pregnant with twins. This is the second pregnancy via egg donation for the 42-year-old educator in Florida and she’s on a mission to help other women facing the same hurdles she did. Several years ago, Lisa was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease leaving her with no eggs at the time she wanted to start a family with her husband. In 2008, when her son was born, she didn’t know about Parents Via Egg Donation (PVED). When it came time for her to think about a second child, she didn’t think she could go through that process again.
“I felt so alone,” Lisa describes. “I felt like I was the only person in the world who had an egg donor to have a baby. People still don’t want to talk about it. A lot of women still don’t feel comfortable talking about it.” When Lisa reached out to someone seeking support, she learned about PVED, which she describes as the greatest gift. Through PVED, she heard about IVF New Jersey and their donor egg sharing program.

“They seemed like a really good group of people,” said Lisa, who drove with her husband to New Jersey from Florida for the process. “The nurses there are wonderful. People who have been through it themselves, they get it.”
By the time women arrive at PVED.org, they know IVF isn’t going to work, Lisa explained. “Most women would have stopped after their first child via egg donation because it takes a lot out of you financially, emotionally, and physically. It doesn’t just fall from a tree. It’s a lot of work.”

But Lisa was persistent. She credits PVED with giving her the strength and resources she needed to head down this path again. “If it wasn’t for PVED I would never had have a second child.”

The great thing about PVED is that it’s an online community, where the message boards are separated by stages of infertility, treatment seeking and egg donation, then pregnancy phases in order to remain sensitive to women who are just beginning their research.

That same community found Abby, who is a part time therapist in New Jersey and was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure. But Abby is also persistent. She wanted more information and she wanted to talk with other women receiving the same diagnosis. “It turns out I have a genetic disease in which only 20 percent of the cases result in premature ovarian failure. Finding this group was a gift because donors have provided me with the opportunity to have healthy children.”
Abby was also floored by PVED’s founder Marna Gatlin, whose tireless dedication to these women is benefitting thousands of families across the country. After many years of struggling with infertility, Marna discovered that the technology to have a child through egg donation was available. She was curious, excited, and above all, hopeful that this process might be the conduit to finally achieving her lifelong dream of becoming a parent.

While Abby appreciates having a supportive family during her egg donation process, she found unparalleled comfort and encouragement from those who had been through the same experience. “Many people knew,” says Abby. “But few understood.”
IVF New Jersey is very supportive of PVED’s efforts and does campaigns to raise funds for the non-profit organization. In turn PVED refers women to IVF New Jersey when it’s the right fit.

“It’s all worth it. I would advise women to talk to as many people as possible, even if they’re on the fence about egg donation,” says Abby, who now has a 4-year-old and a 1-year-old. “My girls. They’re pretty awesome.”

There are more stories like Marna’s, Lisa’s and Abby’s being discussed right now on PVED.org. These women were not only brave enough to choose to be parents via egg donation, but they’re also brave about sharing their lives with others. Lisa has plans to write a book about her story, as well as a desire to plan the first national PVED conference. More information is available at PVED.org.

Article Source: http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/releases/253665.php

Article Review:

The most recent issue of the Journal of Animal Science reviews the impact of exercise on embryo transfer and reproductive health with horses. These studies are used to find more information about animal groups first, and then to evaluate what can be translated to the human population.

Through this study, the mares were separated into three different groups:

No exercise (control group)

Partial-exercise group- mares exercised for 30 minutes per day at a moderate level before ovulation. They rested for 7 days after ovulation.

Full-exercise group- this group exercised for 30 minutes each day throughout the reproductive cycle.

The results from the study showed that cortisol concentration increased in the horses that exercised. Researches will continue to evaluate exercise to examine the effect of stress and the female reproductive blood flow response. This information provides valuable information about which activities increase and decrease the chances of fertilization. With more research conducted about stressors during ovulation, more can be applied to the findings to increase patient pregnancy success.

These health news articles are of value to IVFNJ so we can stay up to date on the latest procedures and research. With new findings through science, we can help our patients achieve their ultimate goals—parenthood.

To find out more about how IVFNJ can help with infertility treatments, do not hesitate to contact our New Jersey practice today!

Your Fertility

You have always wanted to experience a pregnancy. You have wanted to feel the baby’s first kicks and watch as she grows inside of you. You have thought about seeing the heart beat on the monitor and seeing the sonogram report. You have wanted to experience it all, but it has not happened yet.

A pregnancy has not resulted, no matter how hard you try, or how much you have wanted it. Through this IVF New Jersey blog, we report some extra tips to help improve your fertility chances so that you can become a parent. At IVFNJ, we are dedicated to helping our patients achieve their goals of a family. Keep reading to learn some simple ways that you can improve your chances of becoming pregnant, and learn why our IVFNJ is so dedicated to your fertility needs!

Improve Your Chances of Pregnancy

You might feel like you have tried everything to get pregnant, but these extra tips could give you the cutting edge towards parenthood!

Weight Control- having a healthy BMI has been shown to make a dramatic difference in achieving conception. Being underweight or overweight can minimize your chances of becoming pregnancy, so aim to keep your BMI in the healthy range between 18.5 and 24.9.

Beverage Choices- the American Society for Reproductive Medicine states that drinking too much coffee or alcohol can impair female fertility. If you are trying to get pregnant, just practice moderation—not too much caffeine or alcohol.

Say ‘No’ to Cigarettes- smoking is not good for your overall health, nor is it good for trying to conceive a child. If you would like to learn more about how you can quit smoking, visit: http://www.smokefree.gov/

Eat Healthy Foods- this might seem like a simple tip, but try to stay away from processed foods and start cooking more and learning about natural ingredients. You will be amazed not only by what this can do for your waistline, but how good you can feel while doing it!

Speak with Fertility Experts-if you would like to greatly increase your chances of becoming pregnant, then speak with our IVF New Jersey team. Our team of experts can identify the areas that might require extra attention or treatments, and help guide you in the right direction.

Find Out More about IVNJ

Article Source: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2221688/Household-chores-help-IVF-succeed.html

Article Review:

Researchers believe that maintaining a healthy lifestyle with exercise can help increase IVF’s success rate. From the study, women who were active for at least a year before trying IVF treatments were more likely to conceive than women who were not active.

One of the lead researchers stated that exercise helps prevent the body from creating too much insulin. When too much insulin is created, it can be detrimental for egg development. In short, exercise can help to keep eggs healthy.

The National Human Service (NHS) recommends that all adults exercise at least 2.5 hours per week. Moderate exercise should include jogging, swimming, cycling, or gardening. Women who are trying to conceive should also continue to exercise, as it can be beneficial for fertility.

While the research from this study is notable, if you are considering IVF treatment, then do not hesitate to contact our IVFNJ team. We will answer all of your questions about exercise routines, healthy eating habits, and habits that you should try to break when trying to conceive.

With IVFNJ, you can rest assured that you are in the best of hands with your infertility treatments. We will help you to find a good exercise routine that works with your conception goals. We are always here to help you feel comfortable, and with IVFNJ, you know that you are never alone with the process.
