In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

In vitro fertilization, or IVF, is a medical technique used to help a woman become pregnant. IVF involves stimulating eggs to grow, retrieving the eggs from the woman’s body, inseminating and fertilizing the eggs in a laboratory, and transferring the fertilized eggs (now embryos) into the uterus.

Egg Donation

Through the process of egg donation, a fertile woman’s eggs are removed, fertilized by the partner’s sperm, and transferred into an egg recipient who is unable to produce quality eggs or any eggs at all. Egg donor recipients who are unable to carry a pregnancy can utilize a gestational surrogate.

Gestational Surrogacy

Couples who have difficulty conceiving may consider using a gestational surrogate. They typically use in vitro fertilization to produce their own embryo, which is then placed in the uterus of the gestational surrogate, who carries the baby until it is born. If the woman is unable to produce her own eggs, the couple may opt to use an egg donor.

Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD)

Preimplantation genetic diagnosis, or PGD, screens embryos for certain genetic disorders before implantation and pregnancy. This is done mostly for couples who are carriers of certain genetic defects. PGD also tests for chromosomal abnormalities that cause failed implantation and miscarriage. Embryos with normal results are used for implantation.

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)

Polycystic ovarian syndrome, or PCOS, is the most common hormonal abnormality in reproductive age women. Most women with PCOS have enlarged ovaries with numerous small cysts along the outer edge of each ovary. They may have difficulty conceiving, absent or irregular menstrual periods, excess hair growth, acne, and difficulty controlling their weight.

Recurrent Pregnancy Loss

Recurrent pregnancy loss describes the occurrence of two or more consecutive miscarriages. If a woman loses consecutive pregnancies, the risk of miscarriage increases. Recurrent pregnancy loss can cause feelings of helplessness and frustration; IVF New Jersey can help. We will evaluate the cause of the reoccurring pregnancy losses, considering genetic, anatomic, hormonal, and immunological factors.

Singles and Gay and Lesbian (LGBT) Couples

We work with many singles and gay and lesbian (LGBT) couples to help them start families, using fertility treatments and third-party agents such as surrogacy agencies, donor egg agencies, sperm banks and the country’s most respected reproductive attorneys.

Fertility Medications/IUI

If needed, we may prescribe such fertility medications as clomiphene citrate and gonadotropins. Clomiphene citrate (Clomid) is an oral fertility drug that treats patients who do not ovulate or ovulate infrequently. Gonadotropins can be used when Clomid is not effective. Both Clomid and gonatdotropins are used, in conjunction with intrauterine inseminations (IUI). IUI is a procedure in which sperm is placed directly in the uterine cavity, increasing the chances of successful fertilization.
