ART: The reason that we came to IVF New Jersey is we wanted to have a baby. After years of negotiation and trying to figure out how exactly we wanted to do that, we decided that we wanted to go with surrogacy and egg donation. My whole life, I've always wanted to have a child of my own. I think for you, it was more something that you came toÑ MATT: Absolutely, a little bit later. Yeah, actually, it's not that I didn't want to have a child. I just didn't even really think it was an option. ART: And I think there was definitely a part in myÑa moment in my coming out process as a gay guy where I thought that one of the things that I had to come to terms with was that I might have a child of my own. Coming here, though, made it a reality. I think that there's so much information out there, and there's a lot to find out, and there are a lot of parties involved, and you get lots of different stories. But from our first visit here, really, Dr. Treiser was so clear in terms of the steps that were going to be taken, and right up to conception and birth. And we left here incredibly excited. I think we had a donut, right? We went, and we were really excited. So our first visit here really made this abstract idea a reality and that was very, very exciting for us. The process is complicated, and there are a lot of people involved and lots of steps. I have to say, we've been in incredibly good hands since we've been here. The nurse managers and Dr. Treiser, the whole medical team has managed the process seamlessly. MATT: I'm thrilled. I mean, it's such a welcoming environment. Really, it feels like home in some ways. ART: The big day is coming. We're going to have a baby pretty soon. MATT: Our lives are going to change forever, and we're thrilled to death about that. ART: Um hm. I think we don't know what exactly to expect. I don't know how many parents know exactly what to expect, first-time parents, but we're so excited. MATT: It was just astounding, knowing that I could haveÑthat we could be a family, a real family, not just a couple. I know we're going to be great parents. I have no doubt we're going to be good parents and provide a wonderful nest for our littleÑ BOTH: Chicken. [Laughter] ART: I would recommend IVF New Jersey because the standard of medical care is unsurpassed. The support, the management of the whole process has been so smooth. They have been so understanding and accepting of us, and supportive and excited and thrilled for us. We're entrusting this incredibly intimate process with a group of people. Everybody here at IVF New Jersey has really been amazing. MATT: Really, they exceeded our expectations without a doubt. ART: Absolutely. With sensitivity and compassion and knowledge. We are very happy. We're very happy we worked with this team. And who knows? Maybe we'll do it again. [Laughter]
